http://www.britishschoolsgolf.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/IMG_9605.pngIn the wet and windy

conditions with 75 players Balby stormed to victory with a brilliant score of 150 Tom Guttridge,5 (Sandhill Golf Club), was one of Balbys A team who took the win on the day. Tom had a brilliant round of 74 which was also good enough to grab him the second individual gross spot for the day. His 3rd shot into the par 5, 9th could also have well been the shot of the day holing out from 174yrds with a 4 iron to score a fantastic eagle on a tough hole. His score was backed up by Luke Palmowski, +1 (Hickleton Golf Club) who shot a well battled 76 after a slow start he managed to claw a few shots back and hold onto them for the remainder of the bad weather. Pictured above are the Team Champions Luke Palmowski and Tom Guttridge.

Balby’s B team was made up of Harry Emmingham, 5 (Birley Wood Golf Club) who got off to a very fast start getting to a brilliant -2 par after 7 holes. Through the bad weather Harry struggled and eventually carded a 5 over par 77 although this was level handicap he would have hoped for better after the fantastic start. Balby B’s second player Owen Musgrave,3 (Forest Pines Golf Club) struggled from start to finish in the windy conditions eventually carding an 11 over par 83 score. Although he was very disappointed with the round an eagle

on the par 5 10th will be a highlight of the day.

Balby’s final team was Phoenix Golf Club members Oliver Sullivan,5 and Harrison Naylor,5. Oliver had a very steady round not making too many mistakes and eventually scored a well-earned 5 over par 77 score. In the conditions this level handicap score was excellent and was also backed up well by Harrison’s amazing awesome 3 over 75. Harrison got off to a slow start with a triple bogey on the first hole but showing the Balby spirit battled the tough course and conditions to still shoot a final score of 3 over giving the Balby pair a brilliant two under nett score. This was good enough to find them in second spot of both the gross and nett team competitions.

This was a huge achievement and one they will be looking to match in their next national finals in May at The British Schools and Colleges, held at Forest of Arden, and at Moortown Golf Club, where they will be defending their Intercollegiate Tour gross and net titles.
