BCCA FOOTBALL ACADEMY MATCH REPORT - Leeds City College - 07-03-2017

10th March 2017

The women’s football academy played against Leeds City College away on Wednesday in a game full of excitement and goals. Balby started the game the much better team but then were hit on the break and went 1nil down. This made the girls raise their game even more, and Lauren Breen took two players on from the centre back position and lobbed the keeper to get us back into the game and even the scores. At half time, the first thing that came out of Melissa Waters mouth was ‘This game is ours girls’; and that is what the girls set out to do after the break. We started brightly once again, but then conceded a windswept cross. Then Lauren Breen scored her second of the game to level the scores once again. Leeds came back to score two goals in quick succession; one of which was a rebound from a penalty which was excellently saved by Charlie Mudd. Lauren Breen completed her hatrick, and Lily Wishart and Jasmine Blunt had chances to level the score. However, Leeds pushed on and scored a couple more. The game finished with Balby dominating, with Phoebe Sneddon getting on the score sheet; but unfortunately the girls couldn’t get back into the game.
