In the final round of the Intercollegiate Golf Tour played with home advantage at Retford Golf Club the Balby team dominated, qualifying to defend their National finals victory last year for the Intercollegiate Golf Tour Finals at Moortown Golf Club in May 2017. This is the second national final that this impressive squad have qualified for this year and this results gives them great confident in going to the AOC of Sport national final at St Andrews at the end of this week.

This impressive display left them top of both the gross and nett local league tables. The par 71 course was made challenging by gusty winds but we still saw some outstanding scores the best of the day was by Balby’s first player out Luke Palmowski (Left) who shot a five under par 66. He finished his round by making a birdie on his last

hole posting a great first score for Balby.

Balby's team ended up with a convincing win on the day as their team consisted of Luke Palmowski (+1 Hickleton Golf Club) who shot a very impressive round of 66, Owen Musgrave (3 Forest Pines Golf Club) who came in with a level handicap 74, Tom Guttridge (5 Rotherham Golf Club) who shot a convincing round of 2 under his handicap, 74, Harrison Naylor (5 Phoenix Golf Club Right) who came in second place with an excellent level par round of 71 causing him to pick up a great amount of points in the order of merit, Harry Emmingham (5 Birley Wood Golf Club) who shot a well battled round of 75 and finally Nicola Slater (1 Lindrick Golf Club) who struggled in the winds on the day, coming in with a round of 76 nett 75 which was well battled after being 5 over after 8 holes. On the day, Balby's combined score was 276 and there nearest competitor was Derby who finished on 287, meaning that Balby had a convincing victory of 11 shots in the gross league and in the nett league, the scores were Balby 267, Derby 280 and Lincoln 305, meaning that Balby became victors as well by a margin of 13 shots that allowed them to clinch the Nett League
