7th March 2017
MATCH REPORT: On Wednesday 1st March, the women’s football academy played against table toppers Accrington & Rossendale looking to make up for an 9-1 defeat in our first game of the season. Therefore, we reshuffled the line up and took a measured approach to the game, setting up to be organised and contain Accrington. And this plan worked effectively for the first half with the score only being 2-0 to Accrington. The girls knew that they needed to start creating more attacking chances in the second half and tighten up defensively, in order to get back into the game.
The first part of the second half did see an improved performance from the girls, and the organisation on the team was much better. However, as the half went on and the fitness levels and spirt of our girls decreased, Accrington managed to exploit us and score 4 more goals.
FINAL SCORE: Balby Carr Community Academy 0 – 6 Accrington & Rossendale
NEXT FIXTURE: Away vs. Leeds City College – 08/03/2017
